Yesterday our beloved white salmon finally returned to their crosswalk habitat after a longer than usual absence. A skeleton gang of six Community Partners volunteer herders (Clel, Randy, Bruce, Lynette, Rick, and Lloyd) helped the depleted CoWS Maintenance crew (Ross, Jason, and Jeff) contain the unruly lot between the crosswalk bars despite the unusually heavy hatch that accompanied them.
We’ve been bugging the City since mid-April to get this done and the perseverance finally paid off. We were able to get the whole job done in about 3 hours and happily the day wasn’t a scorcher. The whole crew really appreciated the smiles and thumbs-up the passing motorists gave us despite the traffic snarl the herding exercise created (not so thrilled with the middle-finger salutes).
We hope everyone ultimately appreciates the work that goes into this every year. Please let us know what you think in the Comments below
