Washington State Legislators May Destroy the Gorge Scenic Area
The Washington House Appropriations Committee has voted to defund the Columbia River Gorge Commission despite the common knowledge that 99% of the nation, those who live here, have visited, or just know about its spectacular natural beauty, support its preservation. The Gorge Commission is entirely funded by equal budget allocations from Washington and Oregon that are mandated to be the lesser of each state’s allocation. SR 141 Repaving Project News
The SR 141 repaving project from Bingen to White Salmon is scheduled for construction in 2026. WSDOT is just starting the Complete Streets pre-design phase of the project, during which they will determine a preferred alternative for bike and pedestrian facilities on the project corridor. The pre-design phase will inform the timeline for the rest of the project. WSDOT is hosting agency meetings about Complete Streets pre-design. There will be opportunities for public input to WSDOT.
