Each year since 2006 the community has come together for an annual holiday tree lighting. Community Partners elves obtain the tree, set it up downtown, decorate it, and also hang ornaments on Dock Grade Road for the holiday season. Then on the first Saturday in December hundreds of townspeople come out in pounding rain or well-below-freezing temperatures for the arrival of Santa and the lighting of the tree. This has become one of the most beloved of local holiday traditions, and the Dock Grade ornaments are so popular that people come from far away just to make the magical drive over and over up Dock Grade Road.
