Welcome – Two Towns, One Community
Welcome to the new Community Partners website
White Salmon and Bingen are two adjoining small towns in the Columbia Gorge that share an exciting and interconnected community. We’re proud of our home in the Columbia River Gorge, where we live with an abiding interest in our quality of life and community. See what we’re doing and where we’re going, then step in and join in; we know no strangers here
Located in south-central Washington on the northern bank of the Columbia River in the heart of the peerless Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area, we’re the launch point for leisure, exploration, and adventure. In fact, we’ve been named #13 in the New York Times worldwide list of The 46 Places to Go in 2013. In just 40 miles you can explore boreal rainforest, arid high desert, or glacial high alpine environs, while passing through National Geographic’s #11-rated travel destination in the world.
A half hour drive will take you to world-class whitewater kayaking and rafting, salmon and steelhead fishing, windsurfing and kiteboarding, hiking and backpacking, downhill and cross country skiing, road and trail biking, hunting, spectacular scenic attractions, artists and galleries, cultural sites and museums, craft breweries and wineries, unique eateries, all in an incredibly compact area of diverse micro-climates and plant communities.
We also boast a strong and growing economy based around high-tech industries, fruit and timber products, and handcrafted wines. We’re the home base for non-lethal observation drones used to monitor tsunami debris, fisheries, wildfires, as well as our war-zone deployed troops. Our many high-tech support and independent companies have grown as offshoots from this base. We’re also a center of enormous cherry and pear production, and our timber grows like weeds.
Best of all are the things going on in and around town, sharing our good times with our families, neighbors, and community. Check our our Calendar and Upcoming Events, and our News page for the latest updates. You can even share your events with the rest of the community on our Calendar.
